Trauma can change the way you move through the world. You may feel constantly alert, disconnected from the people around you, or unable to relax even when you know you are safe.
Memories, nightmares, sounds, places, or situations may pull you back into an experience you are trying to leave behind. You may avoid reminders, stay busy so you do not have to think, or shut down when everything becomes too much.
At Claritiv Health in Jackson, TN, we provide private, individualized care for adults living with PTSD in Jackson and throughout West Tennessee. We welcome veterans, first responders, healthcare professionals, and others carrying experiences that continue to affect daily life.
You do not need to explain everything before asking for help. We begin by understanding what you are experiencing, what you have already tried, and which care options may be clinically appropriate for you.
Post-traumatic stress disorder, commonly called PTSD, can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event.
It is natural to have difficult reactions after trauma. For many people, those reactions become less intense with time and support. PTSD may be present when symptoms continue for more than a month, cause significant distress, or interfere with relationships, work, sleep, or daily functioning.
PTSD symptoms may include:
Not everyone responds to trauma in the same way. Symptoms can begin soon after an event or appear later. They may also change over time.
A psychiatric evaluation can help determine whether your symptoms may be related to PTSD, another mental health condition, medication or substance use, or another health factor.
PTSD can affect far more than memories of what happened. It can shape how your body responds to stress, how you relate to other people, and how safe the world feels.
You may find yourself:
Some people remain highly capable while carrying these symptoms privately. You may continue serving others, working long hours, raising a family, or responding to emergencies while feeling exhausted underneath it all.
Needing care does not mean you are weak. It means the effects of what happened are still affecting your life.
PTSD treatment should reflect your symptoms, experiences, previous care, health history, and goals.
We provide several care options for eligible adults with PTSD.
Every patient journey begins with a psychiatric evaluation.
We review your current symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, medications, substance use, previous treatment experiences, and goals. We also consider whether depression, anxiety, medications, substance use, sleep concerns, or other health factors may be affecting your symptoms.
You do not need to arrive knowing whether your symptoms meet the criteria for PTSD or which treatment to request.
Medication Management may include reviewing your current prescriptions, discussing medications you have tried before, identifying side effects or remaining symptoms, and considering whether changes may be appropriate.
Medication may help address some PTSD symptoms for some adults, but it is not an automatic or one-size-fits-all answer. Decisions depend on your symptoms, health history, current medications, previous responses, and preferences.
Do not stop or change a psychiatric medication without guidance from the clinician who prescribes it.
Talk Therapy provides a private place to address the ways trauma may still be affecting your thoughts, emotions, behavior, relationships, and sense of safety.
Depending on your needs, care may draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, or trauma-focused approaches.
Trauma-focused care should be collaborative, with clear preparation and discussion of what the approach involves. Your symptoms, goals, readiness, and clinical evaluation will help guide the methods used in your care.
There is no one therapy approach that is automatically used for every patient.
IV Ketamine Infusion Therapy may be considered for eligible adults with PTSD when clinically appropriate.
Ketamine is FDA-approved as an anesthetic. Its use for PTSD and other mental health conditions is off-label.
Research into IV ketamine for PTSD remains limited and has produced mixed findings. A small randomized trial reported reductions in chronic PTSD symptoms after repeated infusions, while a larger study involving veterans and service members did not find a significant advantage over placebo for PTSD symptoms.
Further research is needed to understand which patients may benefit, how long effects may last, and how ketamine should fit into broader PTSD care.
A PTSD diagnosis does not automatically make someone a candidate for IV ketamine. We use careful psychiatric and medical evaluation before recommending treatment.
You can begin by sharing the symptoms affecting you now and what feels manageable to discuss.
Helpful information may include:
We use that information to develop individualized recommendations.
For one person, care may center on Talk Therapy. For another, Medication Management may be appropriate. An eligible adult may be considered for IV Ketamine Infusion Therapy after evaluation.
Not every person with PTSD needs the same combination of care. Our goal is to understand what makes clinical sense for you.
PTSD may involve unwanted memories, nightmares, avoidance, emotional changes, and a persistent sense of being on guard after trauma.
Symptoms must be evaluated in the context of how long they have continued, how they affect your life, and whether another condition or health factor may be contributing. A qualified clinician can determine whether your symptoms meet the criteria for PTSD.

We provide care for veterans and first responders, as well as other adults whose experiences continue to affect their sleep, relationships, work, emotions, or sense of safety.
